Workshop B

The Pharmacist of the Future: Education and Practice in Pharmaceutical Care

  • Facilitator: dr hab. Magdalena Waszyk-Nowaczyk
  • Venue: Medical Simulation Center, Rokietnicka 7
  • Participants: Pharmacy students
  • Number of participants: 12 persons

Would you like to learn what the role of a pharmacist looks like in a modern healthcare system and how to effectively support pharmacotherapy and patient education?

This workshop is for you!

During the sessions, you will explore the principles of pharmaceutical care in practice, develop your communication skills in working with patients and the medical team, and participate in realistic patient simulations.

Workshop C

„Application of Recent Advances in Pharmacometrics and PK/PD Modeling in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and the Pharmaceutical Industry – Practical Training in an Interprofessional Team”

  • Facilitators:
    - Prof. dr hab. Agnieszka Bienert - Laboratory of Systems Psychopharmacology and Pharmacometrics, Department of Adult Psychiatry, PUMS
    - Prof. dr hab. Katarzyna Derwich - Head of the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Transplantology, PUMS
    - Dr farm. Magdalena Olejniczak-Rabinek - clinical pharmacist at the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Transplantology, PUMS
    - Mgr farm. Maciej Michalak - PhD Student, PUMS
  • Venue: Medical Biology Center, Rokietnicka 8, room 1016
  • Uczestnicy: praktykujący lekarze i farmaceuci kliniczni oraz studenci kierunków farmacja i lekarski
  • Number of participants: 20 persons

We invite you to participate in interprofessional workshops with the participation of scientists, clinicians, and a clinical pharmacist, where we will present tools and methods for individualizing drug dosing in critical patient populations. We will demonstrate a physician–pharmacist collaboration model in which the competencies of a clinical pharmacist can contribute to therapeutic success and improve patient prognosis. The workshops will include a discussion session focused on career pathways using MIDD (Model Informed Drug Development), which are currently available and in demand in the pharmaceutical market, not only in clinical pharmacy practice but also in the pharmaceutical industry and drug research and development. During the practical part, participants will have the opportunity to see how published population models can be used in everyday clinical practice. Each participant will be able to independently perform simulation and analysis processes using professional software such as the Monolix Suite and NONMEM, supported by the RStudio environment.

Workshop D

Future Technologies – Modelling and Simulation of Processes as a Key to Digital Transformation in Healthcare

  • Facilitators: Dr inż. Jacek Krzywy & Mgr inż. Witold Statkiewicz (Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology)
  • Participants: teaching staff
  • Miejsce: Collegium Stomatologicum, ul. Bukowska 70, sala komputerowa B 307 A
  • Number of participants: 25 persons

The workshops will show how process modelling, simulations, and digital twins can support the digital transformation of hospitals, particularly in the area of managing the availability of medicines and medical devices, as well as how identification standards can enhance patient safety by ensuring authentication and traceability. We will discuss methods for identifying and managing patient flow, and ways to increase the utilization rate of limited resources (staff, diagnostics, beds, and research equipment). We will demonstrate how process data can be used to identify so-called “bottlenecks” and how to safely test change scenarios (e.g., simulating different prioritization rules or organizational restructuring, and examining, for example, the impact of automatic recording of medical activities on the efficiency of reimbursement processes with the National Health Fund) before deciding on their implementation. The workshop will be particularly valuable for academic staff working in hospitals or in the broader healthcare system, as it combines an implementation perspective with research and teaching potential.
